![]() ![]() ![]() Depending on the amount of opioids in the person’s system, they can experience a second overdose after the Naloxone wears off. In an emergency situation, it is IMPERATIVE that an overdose be reported to 911 immediately, even if someone successfully administers Naloxone to a person experiencing opioid poisoning. Emergency personnel, including EMTs, police, firefighters, physicians and other health-care providers are the most highly trained and reliable sources for administering Naloxone for overdose reversal. There is a training video of one of those sessions on our Videos page under the Resources tab. The LRC periodically provides training sessions regarding the use of Naloxone. While Naloxone is readily available to anyone who wants it, the PA Department of Health strongly urges professional training on proper administration of the medication. If you or a loved one may be at risk for opioid overdose, Naloxone can mean the difference between life and death. The Lackawanna Recovery Coalition also offers FREE Naloxone by mail. Through a standing order contained in Pennsylvania Act 19, individuals can legally and confidentially obtain Naloxone without a prescription at participating pharmacies throughout Pennsylvania. ![]()
